9. In the outdoor nursery you will see a number of different types of birds of prey. Young birds are transferred to the outdoor nursery when they no longer required the warmth of a brooder but are still unable to feed themselves. While in the outdoor nursery these babies conduct themselves as all babies do, they eat a lot, sleep a lot and mess a lot. Most people are surprised to see how quickly a bird grows. A baby Bald Eagle is about the size of a chicken egg when it hatches. Twelve weeks later this eagle is full-size with an eight-foot wing span.
