The Canadian School of Traditional Falconry was established in 1986 to provide instruction to anyone interested in the medieval art. To date, we have provided instruction to over 300 students

including, recreational falconers, professional airport falconers, wildlife rehabilitators, veterinarians, zoo keepers, university professors and law enforcement. We offer courses for beginners and specific areas of advanced instruction.

Falconry is defined as the art or sport of hunting wild quarry with a trained bird of prey. In actual practice, you quickly realize that falconry provides for your raptor the same natural daily processes of a wild raptor. For the falconer, it allows you to witness and partake in these natural processes. Whether your interest is hunting or the birds themselves, all of our students come to the same realizations as they progress through the course.

* The "STARTER COURSE" is a condensed beginners course and was designed
for people who want to get started in the sport
and acquire their own bird.
* The "INTERNATIONAL COURSE" is the complete beginners course.
It is 5 consecutive days.
* The "FALCONRY DAY" is for people who want to experience falconry for a day.

Course Outline

Beginners Course:
Falconry is more than the training of a bird of prey. It requires knowledge in many other areas in order to become successful in the art.

Practical:
Each student is assigned a bird of prey to train on the course and carry out every step
involved from a newly caught raptor to a fully trained bird.

The School provides all equipment, materials and birds required on the course.

After a full day of learning, the bird is finally on my gauntlet,
